As Autumn approaches, Ensign Care welcomes our newest Dementia Support Workers to the team!
We understand that sometimes it may be difficult to care for people who are distressed, so we want to ensure that all our Dementia Support Workers are receiving the support they need throughout the whole journey.
Our staff are currently receiving a high standard of training to become experts at each of the six therapies we provide. With our specialised Dementia Care Training, we provide classroom-based induction training, therapy training, online e-Learning and ward induction training. This ensures our Dementia Support Workers are able to efficiently implement their skills and knowledge into each working day.
Jayne Harris, our Recruitment & Training Manager, presented the following syllabus in training:
- Policies & Procedures
- NHS Staff Health & Safety at Work
- Infection Control
- DoLS Risk Assessment
- Handover Protocols
- Role Playing
- Dementia Awareness
- How to engage and interact
- Distraction Techniques
- Validation Therapy
- Diversion & Reminiscence Therapy
- Group Practical Activities
